Contact Lens Exam & Fitting

See clearly. Feel comfortable. Designed just for you.  Thinking about switching to contact lenses? With contacts, you can enjoy life without foggy lenses, slipping frames, or broken glasses. Whether you play sports, travel, or just want more freedom, contact lenses can give you clear vision and comfort that fits your lifestyle. At EyeC Optometry, we make the process easy — from your first contact lens exam to a perfect, personalized fit.

What’s the Difference Between a Regular Eye Exam and a Contact Lens Exam?

Both exams are important — but they serve different purposes. A regular eye exam checks your overall eye health and vision clarity. It helps detect   changes in your prescription and screen for eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, or retinal disease. A contact lens exam, on the other hand, is a specialized evaluation that determines:

  • Whether your eyes are suitable for contact lens wear
  • What type of lenses are best for your eyes and lifestyle
  • The exact measurements (corneal curvature, pupil size, tear film) needed for a comfortable, safe fit

Your contact lens prescription is not the same as your glasses prescription — that’s why a separate exam is required.

What Happens During a Contact Lens Exam

During your visit, our doctor will:

  • Measure your cornea and pupil to find the ideal lens shape
  • Evaluate your tear film to ensure your eyes stay hydrated and comfortable
  • Discuss your daily habits, screen time, and visual needs
  • Recommend lens options that best fit your eyes and lifestyle — from daily disposables to multifocals

Our goal is to find lenses that provide clear vision, comfort, and confidence every day.

The Fitting Process

Comfort starts with precision. No two eyes are the same — and contact lenses are not “one size fits all.”

Our fitting process ensures your lenses fit securely, feel natural, and deliver sharp, stable   vision all day long.

Here’s what happens during your fitting:

  • Corneal Measurements – We use advanced imaging tools to map your eye’s curvature.
  • Pupil & Iris Evaluation – Helps ensure proper alignment and coverage.
  • Tear Film Assessment – Determines if your eyes produce enough moisture for comfortable wear.
  • Trial Lenses – You’ll try on sample lenses so we can evaluate comfort, clarity, and stability in real time.

If your eyes need special attention, we may recommend toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocals for near and distance vision, or moisture-enhancing lenses for dryness.

Learning to Wear & Care for Your Lenses

If you’re new to contact lenses, don’t worry — we’ll guide you through every step. You’ll learn how to apply, remove, and clean your lenses safely. Most patients feel   confident after just a few days of practice.

Follow-Up & Ongoing Care

After your trial period, we’ll schedule a follow-up visit to check how your eyes are adjusting. If you experience any discomfort or dryness, we’ll fine-tune your fit or recommend alternative lens materials. Routine contact lens exams are recommended every year to keep your prescription accurate and your eyes healthy.

The EyeC Difference

At EyeC Optometry, we take time to personalize your entire experience. Our doctors and staff use advanced technology and expert care to make sure your lenses not only improve your vision — but also protect your long-term eye health.

Orthokeratology (CRT & VST)
Orthokeratology, or "ortho-k," is the process of reshaping the eye with specially-designed rigid gas permeable contact lenses. The goal of ortho-k is to flatten the front surface of the eye and thereby correct mild to moderate amounts of nearsightedness and astigmatism.
Hard-to-Fit Contacts
Challenges such as astigmatism, presbyopia, keratoconus and dry eyes needn’t be a barrier to contact lens wear, but they do require more time and patience.
