Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
We are proud to announce that EyeC Optometry is one of the few optometry offices in the Bay Area that have an Optical Coherence Tomography machine. The OCT is one of the fundamental tools optometrists and ophthalmologists have in their office to better serve patients who have more difficult eye conditions. It is non-invasive and allows us to map and measure the thicknesses of the retina's many layers. We use an image-scanning instrument that makes sure the layers of all the structures of the eyes are healthy and it can detect early signs of ocular diseases, such as glaucoma and macular edema. During the procedure, the doctor may or may not dialate your pupils in order to get a better look into your retina, the equipment will then scan your eye for 5 - 10 minutes and the doctor will then inspect the image for signs of disease.
